time lapse effect

My first priority now s creating a previz for myself with the camera movement and timing for the weather changes. I was planning to create a time lapse effect that will look somewhat similar to what they have in these videos (found on youtube - where else? :) )

Videos like these have also been the reference for my fluid-cloud animation tests that I will post pretty soon.
(I might also post some rain effects tests that I did with particles and collision events.)

I also did a few tests with the lights and the sky.
I used the mental ray “Physical Sun and Sky” for the sunny scene and just an ambient light for the rainy scene.
The clods are made with maya fluids (which will be good for animating).

material test

I did a few material tests to see what I needed to change to make them look alright for the right weather type.
The main thing to remember is the specularity and color. I also added a plane under the cobblestones to look like water ans snow.

jan 2009

I am almost finshed with the modeling now. I just need to add a few details and the vegetation. I am not sure how much I need to work on the trees and bushes (I haven’t really created vegatation in 3D before) . I would like to learn how to do them properly ut I could propably get away with less (You won\’t be able to see them that well anyway)

I have also decided to have to camera angles for my video and these are the two scenes.
This is roughly how the scene will look like in the end (although I will work some more on the textures).

last entry of the year

I have been a bit busy lately but have managed to work a little bit on the ground, ground texture and a few details. I think I will skip the cobblestones that I was thinking of having when I first started the project. The Asphalt looks better in the scene.

I will have to start texturing and UV-mapping soon
(But for now I will concentrate on modeling and working on the second research documet.

Happy new year everyone!
