The train is almost at the station
So finally, after months of work on this project we are getting close to a prototype release. We decided to skip all the unnecessary mechanics and just focus on the core gameplay, which is sneaking and killing. So you won’t see any nice looking sprites or something like that in our prototype, since we are concentrating on the basics.
The prototype is almost done, just some fine tunings left. I’ve almost finished the whole first level just need some minor treats, a trailer and post-mortem document is in the pipeline as well.
We predict that a CD with the game and all it’s content on it will be ready next Friday.
That would be all for this time. Hope to put an end to all this next week.

Presentation
Tomorrow is the deadline for the project and we haven’t got a finished product yet. But we will present the game we have like it is right now and just keep working on the project during the summer. You can find our power point presentation to the right –>
We will return with updates later!
Have a nice summer :)

Level blueprints

Our first level will look something like this. Nothing fancy yet, but this is just as the title suggest a blueprint. We’re aiming for a playable game at Thursday. Until then, hard work.

Some more updates
This week has just started and we are trying to get the last of the objectives fixed. I’ve (Isak) been working with the manual, boxart and started with a trailer but it’s hard to do a in-game trailer without any in-game footage. So I will try to get hold of some footage and then try to get a whole 30 second trailer to work.
It’s hard to stay motivated this last weeks of the project. The summer is near and we all just want to be done with it I think. We will try out best and get a game out in time.
The programmers are staying home and are working on the code, the main part of the game. Since I don’t have that much experience in that area I’m leaving the responsibility to them. This game will come out one way or the other, maybe not exactly as I described it in the Design document but fairly close to it. We will return with a week update on Friday after our meeting.
p.s. our game is now up on the Gscept homepage as well, go to http://gscept.com/index.php/games/ to check it out.

Back again
So last week the most action happened on the programming side of this project. I (Isak) took some time off and worked on some other stuffs since the programming part is the one that needed to catch up with the design. But this week we’re pretty synced and on Friday we’re planning on having a playable level.
The manual, boxart and the trailer is getting started on this week and should get a good groundwork going. I sure hope we could start playtest as well this weekend, since it’s not that much time left on this project. We’ll have to see what comes Friday and how the game looks.

p.s. We did a project logo last week which is viewable at the sidebar (in a bigger version) as well as here:

Project Eight, the name of the game
So after some discussion we have come up with the name for our project, we just used our original name Project Eight. We changed the story somewhat in the design document so we thought it would be a perfect match with this name. Here’s the prologue that we added to the story:
Sometime during the end of the second world war. A group of sociological masterminds developed a plan to stabilize the world politics. They created several groups of contract killers through extensive training and mental abuse, placed at discreet locations all over the world these camps managed several hitmen. One of these groups where group Eight. One of their hitmen regained some of his psyche and managed to escape the clutches of his group.
After an extensive hunt and his newfound view on the world, Derek Chase became the sole survivor of the group and also the last project named Project Eight. Derek’s eyes now turned on the other groups, a self-set goal to dismantle and destroy the groups with knowledge they taught him. The weapon they have developed have now turned on their creators…Derek, group Eight’s legacy.
So the offical name is Project Eight.
