The dialogue system is now almost finished, there are just a few bugs that needs to be taken care of.

May 15th, 2009CG and other delayed stuff
April 17th, 2009Exaclty a week ago, on the 10 of April 2009, we got our computer graphics artists, and due to slacking, we haven’t updated the blog since then.
And when we met with out artists, we decided to sligthly redesign our game. We decided that our game should be more linear, and we would acomplish that by making more linear environments. We are going to make “scenes” and boss encounters rather than having an open world, like we considered in the beginning.
On the bright side, we’ve added that the character will decrease in size when he moves away from the player, and becomes larger when he moves out. The next step will be to add a sort of Eventhandler that can handle events like changing the screen, and spawning monsters.

Attaching a camera to the player
April 8th, 2009Today we made the camera so that it follows the player when the player moves around in the world. This enables us to have a huge world that the player can navigate in.
The next step will be to add some way to get dialogs to pop up showing text, and then allowing the player to interact with the menues.

First day at work
April 7th, 2009The first thing we did was to discuss what kind of game we would like to make. After alot of consideration we decided to do an RPG, final fantasy style. We haven’t come up with a story yet, but its coming… Altough we have decided that we want the “theme” of the game to be nostalgic to the old games, as well as having alot of ironic clicheés.
After trying the Space Warriors example in the Torque X Documentation i made a very simple environment where you in the form of an arrow could move around a limited area. I made the arrow change image depending on which direction you are traveling, and i also added some rocks to collide with.
The next thing to do is to make the camera follow the player, in such a way that we can have a huge map, but only show the players part of it at a time. At least that is the current idea.
