We made some documentaion updates as mentioned in an earlier post. A priority list with both individual and group planning. (All individual planning is not yet done). A description of all the scene in the short, with names and scene numbers. A recording plan for the live footage. (The planning is in progress for the recording, but a date is not yet set).

//Olov & Johannes

We looked at our workload and decided to cut some scenes in the story, this to ensure the quality of the movie. It’s mainly the scenes with the air balloon that we decided to skip since they don’t are necessary to the story. Here is the modified storyboard:

We are now done with the storyboard, click on the image to take a look at it:

We updated the timeplan with some deadlines and tables for the different phases of the projcet and refined the planning of production a bit. Also added a props list with dates for delivery of specific models and animations (this document in not yet fully completed).
And we made some changes in the project plan after feedback from MS1, added references and corrected some other things.

Milestone 1

This is the documents for our first milestone:

Here are some texture/shader tests I’ve been working on.
Tryed to recreate metal, with reflection and specular maps. Also experimented with a procedural rust/metal shader (picture 2 and 3 from the left), will hopefully make the texturing of all scrap in the yard go a lot smoother:

And some wood textures:

Here are some concept art for our project:

We have now uploaded our proposal, project plan, timeplan and the story to our short film we are making.
We are currently working on a storyboard and some concepts will be posted shortly.

Project startup

11:26:33

We have now begun our work with the short film that we are going to make during the next couple of months here on the third year of our education at gsCEPT, and we are really looking forward to it and hopefully will achieve a satisfying result.
Our group consists of five students with different responsibilities in the project, they are:

Olov Jacobsen - Environmental Modelling, Texturing and all Lighting
Michal Marcinkowski - Vehicle Modelling and Texturing
Tim Sundin - Character Modelling, Texturing, Rigging and Animation (of the Rocket Man)
Mehmet Ă–zdemir - Character Modelling, Texturing, Rigging and Animation (of the Space Monkey)
Johannes Lindberg - Post Production (Camera Tracking and Compositing)

The film will have filmed material and CG elements merged into it.
The basic plot is this:
A little girl comes into her bedroom at night and sits down to read her favorite book, it’s a pop-up book about a lonely inventor that lives with his monkey.
When she starts to read the pages pop-up and come to life, we now get to follow the little man in the pages as he builds various vehicles. He does this because he is trying to travel to meet somebody, but there is no one else in this story so he’s efforts are pointless. But he doesn’t give up and I’m not going to tell you more at this time.
The story will have humor, anticipation and a feeling similar to Truman Show.
