Progress Report: Modeling 2
The modeling is going quite good, as I expected. My modeling plan was to create a lot of objects of the same sort so I could focus more on the texturing and lightning and still have a bunch of objects to fill my scene with.
A lot of details were added by modeling my models in the beginning and the question of what I would model and what I could leave to the bump and displacement maps came up. I don’t really have an answer to that so I just estimate the time and work for the models and chose the way I think are the most effective way.
My laboratory is almost done and the fireplace has started to grow.

Progress Report: Modeling
Some props are done. I have realised that one of the most time consuming phases of my project will actually be the UV mapping process. I’m going to make a lot of objects with odd shapes that will increase the time it takes to create my UV maps.
I have been thinking of using 3D procedural textures, like “The Rocket Man” project have been testing, of some of the objects I probably can reduce the time of texturing and UV mapping.
If that is going to work I probably need to do some experiments with procedural textures and I will be forced to make some changes to my time plan.
Cast iron is one of the materials that will be used a lot in my project. If I manage to create it with a procedural texture as a base material I will be able to save a lot of time.
Here are my lab machine, the table, the microscope and all the things together.

Progress Report
Today I presented my project for my class and the first milestone is reached. It is now time to step on the gas and model all my things for my scene in Maya until the next milestone.
